PacSun to open at North Grand Mall; Vanity relocates
Ames, IA --- A favorite retailer is relocating to a newly remodeled store and a new national brand retailer will open at North Grand Mall, 2801 North Grand Avenue.
Specialty retailer Vanity is relocating to a new space next to Younkers in early September.
Fashion retailer PacSun will open a new 3,300-square-foot store in early November next to Eddie Bauer.
"The addition of PacSun brings another leading fashion retailer into the mall," said Kurt Carlson, general manager of North Grand. "PacSun fits in well with our current mix of tenants. Its merchandise mix appeals to teens and young adults, an important segment of our market."
"We are pleased that long time tenant Vanity is continuing its commitment to North Grand through a remodeling of its store. It is exactly the kind of store that enhances the mall and provides a great shopping experience," said Carlson.
Surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding drive PacSun’s fashion influence and the brands associated with these sports. The store will offer a selection of popular brands, and PacSun’s own private labels.
Known for everyday casual apparel, accessories and footwear designed to meet the lifestyle needs of active teens and young adults, PacSun is a fashion resource for the casual teen or young adult wardrobe.
Pacific Sunwear of California, Inc. (NASDAQ:PSUN) is a leading mall-based specialty retailer, with more than 1,100 locations in 50 states and Puerto Rico.
Vanity’s remodeled store will offer cutting-edge fashion to teens and young women in an energetic environment that its customers have come to expect. The new store will have a stylized sign bearing the company’s signature logo on a pink background, new décor, carpeting and cash wrap.
The retailer is known for being first with today's latest fashion to reflect its customer's personal style. Its fashion forecast for fall zeroes in on University, a retro-preppy style that combines cool styling from the past with today's casual fashion for a fresh, comfy look.
The fashion retailer, headquartered in Fargo, N.D., has 175 locations in 22 states.
In May, GK Development, Inc., owner of the shopping center, announced an extensive makeover for the mall and the addition of a new, open-air lifestyle component to be called The Streets of North Grand. The pedestrian friendly center will include extensive streetscaping and high-end architectural design. It will include a variety of lifestyle center merchants that currently do not have a presence in Ames.
This hybrid redevelopment project will blend the best of North Grand’s indoor shopping environment with the lifestyle open-air concept offering consumers pleasant, convenient shopping choices. The real estate company expects to unveil formal plans by the end of the year and begin construction early in 2007.
North Grand Mall has three major department stores, 50 specialty stores and a five-screen theater. Major tenants are JC Penney, Sears and Younkers.
