
College Square Mall unveils new look
CEDAR FALLS, IA --- College Square Mall unveiled its new look this week, an eye-catching transformation that provides shoppers with a fresh, new environment and new amenities.
The mall is celebrating the renovation with special events, a car and concert ticket give-aways, games and prizes Thursday, Nov. 8 through Sunday, Nov. 12.
The renovation also includes a new, expanded Hy-Vee supermarket and an expansion of College Square Theatres to 12 screens. The projects represent a combined $20.5 million investment.
Interior improvements include new lighting and ceramic flooring, soft seating areas, three new restrooms, including a family rest room, a refurbished waterfall and ornamental arches.
Hy-Vee one of the nation’s top 200 supermarket chains will open its new, 80,600-square-foot store on the west side of the mall at 6 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14.
The self-contained store is a combination food and drug center featuring an international food court, a Hy-Vee HealthMarket department, and a pharmacy with drive-up service.
Cinema Entertainment Corporation will show off four more screens to the eight already in operation at College Square. The new wall-to-wall screens are equipped with digital sound, high back rockers and a system for the hearing impaired. The opening is slated for Friday, Nov. 17. GK Development, Inc. acquired the shopping center in 2004.
College Square boasts three major department stores, 54 specialty stores and a 12-screen theater with stadium seating. Major tenants are Von Maur, Younkers and Scheels All Sports. The 552,884 -square-foot mall is located at 6301 University Avenue.
